View Full Version : bleo cough
I posted this under caretakers, so it may be a duplicatepost.
My son has finished round one of 3XBEP.
He had Bleo push yesterday.
He has a deep cough, is this something we should be concerned about?

Bleomycin may cause pulmonary toxicity, so it is crucial that this cough be brought to the attention of the chemo nurse. How did he fare with his PFT? Does he have another one scheduled prior to his next bleo push?
He did have a PFT, I do not know the results.
He does not have another one scheduled before next Monday.
Einhorn told me that he does not even do PFT on young guys.
I am going to email him tonight and get his opinion.
Thanks,
Therese
Fed,
What kind of side effects can be expected from the Bleo?
My son said he was in a lot of pain, he did not tell me where the pain was.
What can be done to pre empt the side effects?
I read on this forum about Benadryl and Tylenol.
Should he take his anti nausea meds before his Bleo push?
I am worried because this is only his second treatment.
Thanks,
Chris' Mom

Last year I produced a primer on TC chemo. It's located in this thread (http://www.tc-cancer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6961), and it contains a link to the document I wrote.

Anti-nausea meds should always be taken before the onset of nausea, otherwise they won't work. Anti-emetics are usually administered at the same time as chemo. You might want to consult the chemo nurse for this.
