View Full Version : monitoring
Hey everyone, I was diagnosed in April this year with stage1b 100%EC and did 1xBEP this summer. My first surveillance CT in Sept. was clear and so I'm feeling better (yay!). However, my original tumors never showed any markers and so I am worried about being able to catch a recurrence if it happens. Does anyone else have experience with tumors that don't produce markers?

Almost all us seminoma folks are in the same boat as 90%+ of seminoma cases do not produce markers. The 1xBEP more than likely knocked out the EC for good. Still, in the unlikely case of a recurrence, it would most likely be caught by the CT if not by markers.
JR,
As another SOS (seminoma on surveillance), I agree with Zsolt that sticking with the follow-up scan schedule is crucial. I also agree that the 1xBEP in all likelihod blasted that crap to hell. Where were you treated? 1xBEP is a relatively new option to 2xBEP.

Hey JR,
Seems like we are in the same boat (except I was IA). Just to echo Aegean and Paul, it's more than likely that 1xBEP took care of this. But it's still extremely important to keep your follow up schedule. Glad you're feeling better.

Thanks all. I appreciate the responses.
@Paul54: I was treated at MD Anderson in Houston and I think was one of the first ones there to be advised to get only 1xBEP
