Ok, guys and girls it's been 17 years and I can't remember the name of the procedure I had to determine if my cancer had spread to my nodes. I guess it's an outdated procedure now because all I find now is RPLND. I was layed out on an exam table and they dug out a vein on the top of both of my feet and inject dye into them.I do remember that they told me the vein was half the size of a human hair and the needle was twice that big. I was remember getting injections between all my toes. I'm sure they also did a ct scan to see the contrast, but I don't even remember.I thought it was called a lymphectomy, but my procedure was done to see if that is what I needed.

Lymphangiography?

The TCRC page on staging (http://tcrc.acor.org/staging.html) says "This test used to be performed to map out the lymph nodes in the retroperitoneum so the radiation fields could be set up to treat a patient with seminoma tumors. It is rarely used any more because it is not particularly accurate, and it almost certainly is not used for staging. It is a good bet that your doctor is getting on in years if they order this test."
