Hi all,
Since my RPLND at the end of June things have been going well; with a singular exception I'll get to later. I'm moving without any problems, no pain at the incision, and oh yeah, best of all the results are clean (nodes were negative so now Im on the post tc treatment 2 year watch plan :-)).
The singular exception though has been drainage at the incision. Three weeks after surgery I went back to Fox Chase for a check up with the Dr. who did the RPLND and was told that its reasonably common; fat necrosis (the drainage of fat through little pin hole weak points on the staple line). At this point aside from my bandaged gut Im back to normal.. though the bandages worry me a bit, that it's still going on this far out from surgery.
So my question is this.... how long does this take to resolve naturally? (as I was told it should.. you just pack it and bandage it until it winds on down and ends) and do any of you have experience with this side effect of an open RPLND?
As a cross country runner I didnt know I had this much fat in me lol
Thanks in advance for any replies... Im happy the ordeal with cancer is over but at the same time a bit confused as to when everything will return to normal.
