How have you been dealing with your scar. I'm single and I kinda don't want to have this thing on my stomach anymore(im kinda tired of explaining what happened, ya know)..im thinking of getting some sort of cosmetic surgery done. thoughts?

Single guys, you have implants? Cause I don't and Im thinkin of getting one too.

Give your scar some time to heal,, it hasn't even been 6 months since your surgery. Its almost been 2 years since mine, and my scar looks really good!, can barely see it actually. It does take a while for it to heal though. I found this "scar serum" lotion stuff that i would rub on the scar every once in a while,,, its supposed to help the healing. I forgot the brand name of it, but I can check on that for you.

If you think that you would feel better with an implant, then go for it. Thats totally your decision. I dont have one, but thats just me. I didn't feel I needed/wanted one.

JimmyDean...Chris' scar after surgery in July seems to be healing quite well, almost starting a little fading...so I agree with Kevin, give it time and it will probably fade nicely....Chris seems unfazed by his...but maybe doesn't show it if he does have a problem. I look at it as saving his life...but again, I don't live with it like you guys. Chris never wanted an implant, and we all did talk about it. Hope you have a nice Holiday...Mary Ellen

I was using something called Mederma for the multitude of TC-related scars, but stopped after a couple of months. It's supposed to soften up the scar, I think by eating away layers of scar tissue. It's freakin' expensive, like $15 for a 3 oz tube or something. At this point my "manscape" of chest and abdomen hair is slowly covering up the evidence.

Hi MaryEllen! thanks for the advice guys n gals.
Yeah, im using mederma which is freakin expensive! i think i need a few gallons of that stuff for the scar,lol. you're right, it hasnt been 6 mths yet.. but its still red and wide and i guess its slowly fading aways(emphasise on slowly) maybe by summer it will be less noticeable... thanks for the input. time will heal it i guess.

My surgeon had recommended I try Vitamin E oil for the scar. Said there was no real proof it does any good, but that it wouldn't hurt to try either. At about $5 per (small!) bottle I am giving that a shot.

I think of it as a battle scar. That is nothing to hide, really, or so I thought. Then I found out that while I don't mind talking to people about TC at all, I found it rather uncomfortable to be, for example, changing in a locker room and feeling the stares on my torso.
I am learning to deal with that, too ... and eventually it'll kind of blend in anyways.

If it was in a different spot I'd consider a tattoo, but I'm not a big fan of the belly ones!

Not to say you will have the same results but, I have noticed significant fading of the scar from month 6 to present(month 9). My DR. suggested vitamin E tablets and Selenium.. Not saying the supplements are the cause for the rapid fading but it has faded greatly since I started using the Supplements........ HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!! DON :)

My scar has faded quite a bit. Most of it from 6-12 months. I didn't use anything on it. I've heard the sun be bad on it so if you do go out with out a shirt you probably want to put sun block on it.
