Hey there all.

Haven't been here for a while, so have just spent a little time reading the posts on these forums. I'm glad to see that everyone still has a really positive sttitude and continues to be so supportive on here.

Just thought I'd send a quick post to let you know that I completed my first half marathon since diagnosis, surgeory, chemo and RPLND last year.

I picked a race STATE SIDE for the event and chose the Miami Half Marathon, easily the most ATTRACTIVE marathon I've ever run. Only the real hotties run this one. Had an awesome time (Hooters was brilliant!), and completed the mararthon, continuing the LIVESTRONG philosophy.

Am planning to run the Chicago Marathon for the Cancer Research charity this year and I can't wait.

Had my last blood check a month ago, and everything is still all clear 7 mths down the line. The check ups never get easier, but nobody ever said they would be!

I trust everyone is as doing well, and staying positive no matter what their situation.

I'm gonna post a little pic of me and my medal just after the race finish in Miami. I'm pulling a typically undramtic and modest pose, as ever....... I hope you like it

Love

Were going to have to make sure you get the commemorative shirt to sign, and wear, on one of your competitions. You certainly are livingstrong.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm glad to hear from you all, it brings back a lot of memories I guess.

I think MOM is right. Beating cancer is only half the battle. Getting on with your life after cancer is the rest.
I'm fighting fit, and even got my personal story regarding cancer printed in the local press last week. I'm seeing someone new, and my work is moving along nicely.

Getting cancer is a thing you can view in a lot of ways. I guess I've chosen to view it as a kick up the backside (english for ***). I'm stronger because of it, and always will be. I know there are countless others who can claim the same.

Peace and love..

Jim

Thats awesome Jim!!

Congrats on the half marathon and good luck with the Chicago!, that should be a great time.

Were you a runner pre cancer? Just curious because I never ran prior to being diagnosed, but started running in 2004 with the cancer charity team of the hospital where I was treated.. Its an amazing experience to say the least. Next month I'll be running my second Boston Marathon with the team! =)

Its nice to hear that you are doing so well. Keep up the good work and good luck in the future.

Cheers for the message kev.

Boston...wow! that's some going

As i said I'm running Chicago this year...my friend is going for a time to compete in the Boston marathon next year. I'm gonna try and pace him for the first half and then coast the second half as he goes for the 3:15.

I did run before, from about 2001ish. I completed the New York marathon 1 month before diagnosis. back up to half marathon now and i run a little running club for people in my home town....which is fun.

Need to lose some weight...but who doesn't?!

Hey Jim,

Wow, 3:15! thats no joke!

How was the NYC marathon!? I heard its not as flat as people might think? Thats awesome that you are getting back up to marathon distance.

Keep us updated on your races.
