View Full Version : Am i the only one?
Hello everybody
I am the only one on this forum who had seminoma 2 times, got radiation in 2001 and chemo in 2005 ?
I have a couple questions for you today
1) What are my odds for a new kind of cancer?
2) My doctor gave me 94% of chances to stay healthy(without rellapse) do you think it's more or less than that?
3) He said to me that if i rellapse i will go on Vip protocol, can someone talk to me a little bit about this one ? Is it harder than BEP (more vomitting and othe side effect)
Thank you

Hi Eric
You are not the only one, I have had seminoma twice
first time in 1984 no spread I then had radiation
Then again in 2004 and again no spread this time no radiation or chemo.
I think we will be fine it didn`t come back the first time so hopefully it
won`t come back this time.
How are you doing on hormones replacement??
I am using testim gel 5 grams a day.

eric there is a pretty good discussion going on in "just diagnosed ..whats next" forum started by ctx called "weird situation..part one and two", you may want to read. but as others have stated i think alot depends based on a case by case observation and what course of treatment each one took. i was presented with basic protocol treatments as many others. as far as spread, all i can do is live each day like its not coming back. take the opinions of my doctors, research them and try to accept what they say. they are the experts. i could second guess everything they say until i find the answer "i need to hear" but why? i'll have to deal with it one way or another. i've accepted that and not until recently! i firmly believe that things happen for a reason and although i'm still searching for that answer, i will one day know why! best of luck and many thoughts and prayers, brian!
I think that the numbers and statistics mentioned in those link are too negative. I don't understand how they found those number. They are talking about a study on about 40000 TC survivors and 2000 cases of second cancer.
So this is only 5%. Can TC survivors and people who got radiation and chemo like me can hope to live to retire ?
Can TC survivors and people who got radiation and chemo like me can hope to live to retire ?Yes, absolutely. There are many, many long term survivors.
Check out this link It will take you to the story of John Cleland, he was the first person treated with cisplatin way back in 1974 and he's still doing fine. http://www.curetoday.com/backissues/v3n4/features/cured/index.html
Start saving your money. Retirement is here before you know it. Dianne
