How long did people have to wait for their bioposy results, my other half has been waiting for well over a week and no letter from the docs. Also he will have to wait another 2 weeks for the CT scan, is this normal. We are fed up of waiting, feels like our lives are on hold until we get the results. Am tempted to go private for the scan etc.

The usual wait seems to be about 10 days. Sometimes I think that's the worst part. I'm sure having a holiday weekend didn't help.

Just spoken to the consultants secretary, who said that she had the results in front of her and that my partners results would be discussed at their next meeting to decide treatment. What does this mean?
I hate it when the doctors etc drop in little pieces of information and don't explain what they mean. I seem to spend most of my time worrying about something a doctor said in conversation. Am now worried that his cancer isn't straight forward (as straight forward as they can ever be!), otherwise why would a team of doctors need to dsicuss it?

Ceri, no matter what the results are, there are often multiple treatment options. However, your partner has a right to know what those results are and to be part of the decision process.

The person I spoke to said asked for my partrners mobile phone number. I am hoping that they might call him to let him know what is going on but I want to be with him when he gets the results.
I can't help myself from thinking the worse (I'm definitly a half empty glass type of person!).
The one piece of good news we had was that his tumour markers were within normal levels before the op. But we are very much in the dark about everything else.
Spoke to the private hospital and a CT scan would cost us between £600-£900, and an appointment with the consultant (who is the same person he's seeing on the NHS) would be £150.
Should they be acting quicker, the testicle has been removed so it is ok that there is now a delay for further treatment?

Ceri...

I had to wait almost 2 weeks before getting my I/O results. My surgery was May 7, 2005 with a wedding planned for May 21, 2005! The wait was tough, but having distractions (wedding plans, guests coming, etc) helped a lot. Feeling in the dark is normal in the beginning, but your partner has the right to know what is going on. While waiting on results, continue to educate yourselves and never be afraid to ask lots of questions!

Having normal markers is a good thing, but a CT scan will be necessary. I won't be of much help regarding NHS, but hopefully others here are more familiar.

Now, if we could only cure your glass 1/2 empty personality ;)

Finally, my other half recieved a letter this morning, his CT scan is booked for the 13th. After that the consultation said he'll discuss all the results with him.

The waiting will always be hard but remember no matter what the outcome you will win this fight.

We had a call from the nurse yesterday to say that it was a seminoma and that he would find out the path results after the CT scan.
