View Full Version : LiveSTRONG Summit
I posted this originally under the Livestrong challenge thread but wanted to start a different thread to keep up with any new news or happenings..
About 2 months ago I submitted an application to LAF to attend the LiveStrong Summit. I was Notified By Kelly @ LAF that my application was one of the 800-1000 accepted to attend... Needless to say I'm pretty excited about this especially because for some reason there are no Cancer fundraising events or Advocacy Programs in my area (Southwest Florida). Who knows , maybe this could be the start of something great here in SW FLA. I'm just greatful to be able to be a part of something like this!!!!
I will keep you all posted as I find out more!!!!! BE WELL!!!!!!!!
I just got conformation on my flight and hotel for the Summit today. Can't wait to go !!!! Is anyone else here going????

Congratulations don.
I applied but was denied. I even asked if there was a waiting list but I guess everyone who enrolled is going.

Don, I will be there. We will have to meet up.
Don and Bart, have a great time at the LIVESTRONG Summit this weekend! I can't wait to hear all about it!
We can all peek in on the Summit at this link (http://www.livestrong.org/summitlive), where there are photos, audio clips, and descriptions of the event as it progresses. Good stuff!
Summit delegates came up with a mighty good list of obstacles, changes desired, and potential solutions. It's posted at this link (http://tinyurl.com/yfcxoc).
We can all contribute to continuing progress in the cancer survivorship movement.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while.. The night before I left for the Summit my Dad was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and found out he had a blocked artery. Luckily they caught it before he had a massive heart attack.. We were very concerned because he already had open heart surgery 10 years ago.. I left fot the sumit straight from the hospital a have been with my Dad since I came back on Sunday night.. Luckily they cleared the blockage VIA a cathader.. He is doing fine now..
I truly wits that we all could have been at the Summit together .. For me it was a truly life changing experience. The Power and energy that was in that room from Lance to John Kerry( he was cracking jokes because he was in W country) right down to the volunteers was truly amazing .. We really do have an Army of Survivors, Caregivers and advocates all fighting for the same cause.. Even though most of the delagates have never met it was like meeting up with a bunch of old freinds you haven't seen in a while.. This was A first class event.. Unbeleivable!!!!!! :)
It's good to have you back and I'm certainly glad your dad's doing well. Did you get to meet Apache?
Even though most of the delegates have never met it was like meeting up with a bunch of old friends you haven't seen in a while.I know exactly what you mean!
Don, I'm curious about your personal action plan.
Scott:
Did you write one after your day in Washington? From the name I can figure out what it is, with New Years comming up and the paperwork process started for our charitable organization, it might be a good time to write one myself.
The action plan I left with after LIVESTRONG Day was to stay in touch with my Congressional representatives on survivorship issues. I'll continue to do that, to volunteer time here, and to raise funds and awareness for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I hope and expect to be able to do more still in 2007.
