Hand-Assisted Laparoscopic Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection for Nonseminomatous Testicular Cancer

Conclusion: Hand assitance makes the laparoscopic operation simpler, faster, and safer. A 6–7 cm muscle-splitting incision should be advantageous for patients compared to the xyphopubic laparotomy of the open procedure. To our knowledge this is the first report on hand-assisted laparoscopic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection.

but in any case . . it is good to see somebody exploring new surgical procedure.

10 patients isn't really a large sample. If they us that as a measuring stick do they consider 10% of the patients needing repair because of bleeding acceptable?
