White Blood Cell Count

I had my WBC crash to 600 this weekend which meant a trip to hospital for 24hrs...is there anything to prevent this? I know it comes with the Chemo...they sent me home Sunday afternoon with Antibiotics....

If you are on your "off" week (i.e. only bleo push), then your counts should start coming back on their own because bleomycin is not myelosuppressive. What they can do once you begin cycle 2 is to get a neulasta or neupogen shot to boost your counts. What they should not do is delay your next cycle.

As Fed said, see about Neupogen and Neulasta. Greg gets Neulasta every Saturday morning after his full weeks of treatment, and his counts have remained practically normal throughout treatment thus far.

The nurses warned that it can cause serious bone aches, but Greg hasn't had any problem with it.

Hope you feel better and the rest of chemo goes off without any additional hitches.
