How enlarged was your testicle when diagnosed? To help others to give an example

Dear readers,

I know the approximate size of a testicle. Furthermore I know there are differences between the testicles and individuals. But, my hypochondriac kept me asking: how enlarged were the testicles of you or people you know diagnosed with testicular cancer?
Did this swelling kept growing over time? Was this during one night, and how enlarged was the testicle "before and after"?

Perhaps this will inform others, how enlarged it might be (besides all other symptoms ofcourse).
This to keep my objectivity, and don't feel them every single day for enlargement. Which I am currently doing!

I hope I can get some serious feedback.

Testicles do not always enlarge with TC. My first tc was found due to an injury that had caused my testicle to enlarge, but never returned to normal, my second tc, my testicle actually seemed smaller & very mis-shapened.

Afraid there is no hard & fast rule for this.

I agree with Dave. My son discovered a lump while grooming "downstairs". There was no change in size. He waited 2 weeks before he saw an urologist and got a US done then i/o, outcome seminoma stage 1.
Whereas, a work colleague was diagnosed with nonseminoma, 1 year prior to my son's diagnosis, only because he was accidently hit himself and his testicle had swollen up afterwards and was painful, he was diagnosed with stage 3, with mets in the lung and brain, he did BEP and was operated on in these areas. He is all clear now. My son is still on active surviellance and also more than thankfully, all clear.

I agree. I found mine, not because it enlarged as if anything it had shrunk slightly, but because it went noticeably hard as a stone and lost sensation.

I found mine because it swelled up pretty quickly and was rock hard. At that point it was around 5 cm. By the time it was removed 4 months later it was over 6 cm.

The 4 month delay was because I was misdiagnosed with Orchitis.

Hi Matt. Was 6.3cm in Lenght and 5.2 in Width?
My left testicle is now 5cm x 2.5-3cm x ??

6.3 by 5.2 would be a huge difference compared to mine for example. I am aware of other symptoms with testicular cancer, and that there don't have to be enlargement. A lump, hardness and other symptoms may occur.

I am talking about enlargement now, because what I read about the cases with enlargement is that there is a really noticeable difference. Therefore, it may calm my mind and stop prodding.

6.3 x 5.1 x 3.8 cm when it was removed.

It was rock hard. I felt heaviness down in the scrotum as it was pulling down. A little bit of pain and some lower back pain (that we were never sure was from the TC or not). The cremasteric reflex was not able to pull the testicle up like it normally would...It was stuck hanging low. My other symptoms at the time was fatigue/tiredness and night sweats. It was constantly growing....never shrinking.

If you are worried about yours then you really need to get to a Urologist and get an Ultrasound done. Comparing your symptoms/enlargement to others will not lead to diagnosis or non-diagnosis of TC.

Mine wasn't enlarged, just felt weird and uncomfortable for a while like wearing underwear too tight. Found a lump in the shower and went to the doctor.

Don't second guess yourself, just get it checked out!! It's quick and you'll know for sure

I too note changes that were 'rock hard', not enlargement. To the point with my sack of 1 remaining testicle and an assortment of cysts and globules - as everything is and remains 'squishy' I have no worries and believe the US of 5 years ago. Plus the yearly feel-out by Doc. And she is cute so there is some added stress with the yearly feel-out, .

As I read these replies (many thanks) I feel more safe about my testicles. I've been to my GP several times with my testicles, but he said my balls feels ok.
My left feels smooth all over, is a little bit "squishy" when I am under the shower or it is nice and warm downstairs.

At my right one I felt a really small "bump" near the epididymis, and got it checked out by my GP. He couldn't even feel it, and it was close to the epididymis. He said he felt the whole testicle round, but that he didn't feel it. And we took some time together so I trust him.
I suspect it is the appendix, or just the epididymis itself, but because of my awkward position to feel it, and sometimes not it is the epididymis itself. I need a referral from my GP to an urologist, but he said they feel so completely fine, it is not necessary.

I of course will keep doing my monthly self-exams to make sure there are no changes. And if there are, I will go to my GP directly.
The problem was that I keep doubting about uncertain things as what is defined by "squishy"? And how Enlarged was it?

I will now try to leave them alone for a month (I previously touched them every day, now every week).

Basically, if you have two testicles, then the best thing is to see if there are differences - if one feels alien compared to the other, then get it checked out. When I found my lump, even though it was small it was totally obviously different to the other testicle, and just immediately felt like there was something wrong. It was rock hard and unyielding, like feeling a knuckle in there.

Talis, that is a really good description. To add to it, make a firm fist. With your other hand push on your knuckles, if that is what your testicle or any part of it feels like get it checked asap! Now push on the fleshy palm below in your fist and you find a small range of 'squishy', the slightly firmer (depending on how firm your fist) is what my remaining testicle feels like, the globules less firm.

Mine was a tiny lump, hard as a rock on the surface of the testicle. 100% pure EC
