  • Benefits of pure scientific research

A little different topic intended for those with an interest in how we became so fortunate to have such a survivable cancer. I'm sure a lot of people here are aware of the amazing impact Dr. Einhorn has had and continues to have on our treatment. But last year during my chemo I got curious as to where cisplatin came from and came across the work of Dr. Barnett Rosenberg. Accidentally finding cisplatin truly was the result of pure research. And from what I've read in other articles Dr. Rosenberg really had to push to get it tested on people. It was the anniversary of his death a couple of days ago so I would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Barnett Rosenberg for his contribution in giving me the opportunity to extend my stay on this wonderful planet.
