  • TC could be back!

A few months ago I was celebrating 5 years all clear. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my surviving testicle has doubled in size, which occurred very suddenly.

Had an ultrasound and Dr advises that there seems to be a cyst/tumour inside the right testicle and being referred to Urology.

Unlike the last time I have no tell tale signs.

Also apologise I have not been on here for some time.

As always thanks for your ongoing support.
    Paul

The ultrasound should be able to tell if the mass in your testicle is a cyst (fluid filled) or solid (which would mean you have a very high probability of cancer/unlikely benign).
Diagnosed at age 31. Treated in NYC. Now living in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

7/1/2015: felt tiny lump on side of R testicle
    7/30/2015: Ultrasound shows 2 intra-testicular masses.
7/31/2015: tumor markers normal, CXR clear
    8/5/2015: R orchiectomy
    8/11/2015: Pathology: 1.2 x 1.0 x 1.0 cm, embryonal 80%, seminoma 20%, with LVI and rete testis invasion
    8/14/2015: CT abdomen/pelvis clear, Stage 1b
    8/24/2015: started 1 x BEP

Good luck singhy! That is some remarkably fast growth of the testicle. Hopefully this is not TC!!

Only thing I can say is if it *is* TC, it's not "back", it is a new primary cancer, not a recurrence of your original TC. It took 35 years for my second one to happen. Once we've had one, the odds of getting a second one go up a fair bit, unfortunately. Hope it's not TC, but if it is, you can survive it just fine, there are quite a few of us who have.

Hers hoping that its not a TC but it it is you will need to get onto testosterone Replacement without delay. Like Dave said it would be a new event not related to the first. While a second TC can be a huge smash on you life you can be fine with Manager Testosterone replacement. If you did not get a prosthetic on TC1 have a think about if this is a second TC and your thoughts on Prosthetic s.

Thanks guys, confirmed it's a 4.5cm growth and having the op on 8th March as away with the family next week. Took it badly now that i'm losing both the boys, didn't get a prosthetic the first time round but will do this time. Once again thanks for your support.

Losing #2 is always a bit more difficult. Not a lot changes with #1 most of the time, but #2 entails a significant change in our lives. Try to get the TRT in place prior to surgery it is quite unpleasant to be without T after the first week.If you have any questions, fire away, & please keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Dave, surgery performed on Tuesday and was prescribed Testosterone straight away. 4 days in and I noticed I'm becoming irate quickly. How long does it take for the testosterone to be absorbed into the body?

How is your testosterone administered? That will make a difference.

Actually, I believe getting irate is likely a symptom of too high a level of testosterone. I also want to know what method of delivery they are giving you.

Well, it should be working by now. Keep track of how you feel each day & press for a T level check soon, some guys absorb the stuff better than others, so the only way to know is to test.

Thanks guys, had a blood test to check my tumour markers and testosterone. Seeing my consultant on Friday to get results of these along with CT scan and biopsy.
