  • One year All Clear

    hi Guys

recently I received my 1yr all clear (well...its only 11 months but the next scans i will have in January- just let me cheat ! ).

I had a 2cm Yolk Sac + Teratoma, an AFP over 5000 and a lymph met of 5*4*6cm that was taken out after the chemo.

I finished 4*BEP end of nov last year.

80% of the times I have dry ejaculations AND the chemo / the tumor / the traumas caused me something like fibromyalgia / mild paraneoplastic syndrome... But I dont care as long as my scans are OK !!! I can live my life again.

I really hope that the chances of a recurrence after one year are not higher than 5%.

Thanks for your support, all of you reading this!!

First of all CONGRATS!! Such awesome news!!

Did you have a RPLND, or did the chemo cause the dry ejaculations? My 16 year old had 4xBEP and a RPLND, but had started having dry ejaculations near the end of cycle 3 so before his surgery and his docs here seem baffled - say they never heard of chemo causing it, so I'm just curious if I missed that you had the surgery too or if chemo was the cause for you as well.

                hi All,

received my 14 months all clear... AFP 4.52.

I am so happy about the result.

I know a recurrence can happen any time but I like the fact that with time it gets less and less likely... I feel like i am finally out of the freakin woods. Especially due to the fact that i was misreading my CNS complaints (due to fibromyalgia probably..) for quite a long time and thought i would die.

all the best for all of you reading this.

                    hi biwi,

thank you. Are you still very nervous before the tests? I cant imagine being "my old self" before these check ups.

Still a little nervous but each one gets a little easier. I actually find myself forgetting all about my TC for weeks at a time now, other than when I post on this forum.
