  • Epididymitis after TC... Am I right to worry?

As you know, any testicular discomfort and you think it's cancer...

So it is with relief I found out 5 months ago that I had epididymitis.

3 weeks of antibiotics seemed to have cleared it up, but now it's back.

    Or so the urologist says.

Not severe pain, but discomfort.Urologist seemed unworried, prescribed 6 weeks of antibiotics to clear up "any bacteria lurking around the prostate".

Halfway through, there is still some discomfort!

I'm worried, if it is epididymitis, can it turn chronic, and if so, what does that mean for me?

Also, can it be something else? My last regular checkups (over 1 year now) have been bloods and Xrays.

I hope it's not bloody cancer!!

    What do you think?

I think you are overdue for bloodwork & it's also normal to still get an annual CT scan usually for the first 5 years. That said, your doc is probably correct, but the antibiotic may not be working. Did he change the antibiotic for the second round?

Thanks, Dave - I believe I still have a couple of months until the CT scan...

My next blood test and Xray are in June (last one in March).

No, he kept the same antibiotic - but extended from 3 weeks to 6! You're right, it might not be working...

Can they do an u/s for peace of mind while figuring out antibiotic treatment? My son was incorrectly diagnosed with Epididymitis before being diagnosed with TC.

I'll find out... I guess he did the physical examination and this is the same urologist that diagnosed TC and did the I/O, and a few months diagnosed the initial epididymitis with ultrasound that we thought went away after antibiotics...

One of the biggest problems with antibiotics is if they don't take out the bug completely, it can come back with resistance to that antibiotic. I'd get in touch with the doc & let him know what's going on.
