Thanks Jules, so sweet of you to remember. I am just sitting here baking muffins and brownies for him. He is totally calm, I am way more nervous than he is. He did shave his head this weekend. I told him he should be Uncle Fester for Halloween!

Muffins, brownies AND thorough medical research? Boy, where do I get an aunt like you?!

It's great that he's calm. This was my experience too: I was a complete disaster while Shaun was making friends and cracking jokes in chemo daycare. His attitude actually made things easier for me, and I think it allowed him to barrel through whatever treatment was at hand, and not jump too far into the future. You and your nephew will make a good team.

Try to get some decent sleep tonight!

I carried a Bugs Bunny with me as I took my kids "twick-ow-tweating" last year.

It's great to have some fun with it!

I'll be praying for him this week.

So good to hear! I bet those brownies and muffins helped.

Good luck with the rest of the week - let us know how he does.

                  Week 1 done

Well, we made it through week 1. Most of the week he was just tired. Today there was a bit more nausea and dry heaves. I'm thinking this weekend won't be much fun. 1 down 3 to go. My big decision is, what to bake this weekend. I'm thinking I will make a cinamon bread but not sure yet, maybe some chocolate chip cookies.

Ghirardelli has an amazing double chocolate banana bread recipe, see it here. I made it last weekend and it is yummy - it can be made into muffins too.

Ohhhh, and I was just on pinterest (darn that Kimmy for sharing that obsession), saw these and thought of you. What cancer patient and family doesn't need to throw caution to the wind and indulge?

                    And YEAH through week 1!

Tracy that recipe looks wonderful, one day, when he decides to like chocolate again, I will make that. I'm sure he will love it. His requests this weekend are......cinnamon muffins (again), pound cake, and ginger snap cookies. His wish is my command!

He is very tired and I know that is to be expected, but I just can't bear it. I hate seeing him like this. I haven't cried in about a week but I feel a good one coming on. I can't even imagine if he were my child, although, we are very close and he is the closest thing to my own child that I have ( him and his brother) I don't know how my sister is dealing with this! I really need it to be next Feruary and for all of this to be behind us. How did this post about baking turn into a pity party for Aunt Lynda?

Aunt Lynda can have as much of a pity party as she needs! And how wonderful of you to bake whatever he requests. I did the same (well, Kel didn't want too much baking) - whatever he wanted, he got, but for Kel that was too much ice cream. He kept using the 'cancer card' in theory so much, that I actually made him 'Cancer Cards'. They are one time use only and just a cute gimmick. Actually, I have a TON of them, so if you think your nephew would get a laugh out of the idea, just PM me and I can send a bunch to you (I have 'supporter cards' too ... entitled to whatever the heck s/he wants, but trumped by the 'Cancer Card') ... just let me know (and that goes for anyone).

Otherwise, it is really hard to see our loved ones go through this. Kel and I went out last night for a belated anniversary dinner and were talking about this last year and all of the big events that we could have done without. Good thing is, his memory of the trials and tribulations of chemo are a little fuzzy.

Big hugs! Tomorrow is a bleo day?

No bleo for him, he is EPx4. Just a straight 2 weeks off now, yay!!!!

Ah, Ice Cream, I make that too. 2 weeks ago I had to make chocolate chip mint, pistachio, and lemon ices. We always talk about the "cancer card". I would love to see them. I will PM later, when I get home from work.

                            Lynda

I read your message before this - ignore my comments about bleo! Since this is a week off for him, hopefully he will feel better.

You make ice cream?! Wow, impressive. And I sent pics of the card - just something cute I did when I needed to channel my frustrations.
