Worried wife
My husband took too long to see a doctor and im so worried. He had an ultrasound and they found a 5cm tumor. He had it removed yesterday. We are waiting to go see Urologist in a week for results. Ive been so depressed and crying alot. I dont want to loose him i really dont. We have 3 children. Im so scared it has spread. I need someone to talk to. Ive been reading all your stories these days and i know theres hope but I can’t help feeling lonely and depressedTags: None

My husband just told me he has been having lower back pain and he is panicking. He has been doing yard work around the house and we are hoping it’s just that. He finished chemo over 3 weeks ago. Not sure what to think anymore. He has ct scan this Thursday.

Hi violet - yes my ldh was high right after chemo and it had never been during and is now back to normal.
As Dave said these are here to help but can also mean a lot of other things . Again if the scans are good that is all that matters. My doctor never panicked or was worried about the ldh so I trust him and move on as much as we can!
Let us know!

That's the trouble, Violet, we're always looking over the shoulder, wondering if things go wrong - hopefully, the doctors confirm it's not cancer related!!

As mentioned the LDH is not very specific and is of very minimal elevation. Also, the AFP measurement differences would be of no concern at all to me given that they are within the range and AFP is not elevated by seminoma. Regardless, unless it was above 25 I wouldn't have any concerns.

Thank you Dave. Hopefully it’s just liver stress or his anemia.

LDH isn't really a tumor marker as inflammation anywhere in the body can cause it to be elevated, and at 262 his is not elevated all that much. I would not be panicking at this point, it is too soon post chemo.
BTW, seminoma cannot elevate AFP, but it can elevate the other markers, just so you know, but I doubt that is what is happening here.

Is he on any vitamins? or anything new since chemo?

Ok i checked his labs again and realized his cholesterol is not high. His tumor marker LDH is high and at 262. So is there a possibility that chemo didn’t work? Does that mean he still has cancer and theres more spread?

Yeah, the poison of chemo is especially hard on kidneys and liver. I definitely wouldn't read anything into those at this initial test, especially the AFP as it is normal variance in the normal range.

Yes, I think during chemo many people experienced this. My son had AFP and LDH both went up after chemo, but get back at the end.

Hi everyone! My husband finished BEPx3 2 weeks ago. This week he has a ct scan to see if treatment worked. He had bloodwork done and we were able to see it ahead of time. My husband has pure seminoma stage 2b and that’s a reoccurrence because last year he was stage 1. Well not sure if chemo caused problems but he is a pre-diabetic and now his glucose is higher and cholesterol is high too. His RBC is low. Theres also a trace of protein in his urine. His tumor markers are normal but his AFP did go up from 2.5 to 4.1. Not sure whats going on and I know pure seminomas dont cause tumor markers to go up. We are worried. Maybe chemo caused this?

JeskiM69 hard to know if your problem has anything to do with TC. Sometimes crap just happens that has no relation to your TC. I'd guess this dizziness might be unrelated, but no easy way to know...
