Yup, feels like a big weight has been lifted. We knew from my blood work and the slow growth it was likely to be teratoma but luck hadn't been in my side lately!

I also agreed to be part of a study regarding the effects of 4 rounds of platinum with Dr E. I go back in October for blood tests and hearing tests. They want to see if they can find predictors of platinum sensitivity and then possibly combat them in the chemo drugs. It was the least I can do to give back!

Good for you! I participated in a study looking into the possibility of TC having a heredity component. Since I'm 2X & my brother's son is 1X it seemed like a no brainer to me.

Figured I'd post a little update after the RPLND.

Today is 3 weeks post-RPLND and I'm doing pretty good. After discharge I was taking about half the amount of vicodin prescribed and then at about 2 weeks out I stopped it completely and just take advil occasionally now. Working my office job at home for 1-2 hours and then going into the office for ~5 hours, until my office chair and pants get too uncomfortable. The belt and button on jeans applies pressure right on the bottom of my incision and gets uncomfortable pretty quick. I wear sweatpants whenever I'm not at work. Wearing jeans is probably the biggest complaint at this point. Staples came out a week ago (2 weeks from surgery). They were starting to be a little irritating, you could feel them tug a little as you moved around. The day after staple removal my incision opened maybe 3/16" of an inch around my belly button and 3 other small spots. It stung a bit and I was a little freaked out! Since then I have been keeping steri-strips on in those locations to help support the incision and that really helped with both my comfort and it healing I think. The parts that stayed tight have grown new skin and sealed. I read a few stories of incision infections and they terrified me so each day I very carefully wash my hands, remove the dressings, shower, apply antibacterial ointment, and reapply a dressing over the parts that have not closed. So far no infection and each day I can tell its healed a little more. I am on a 10lb lifting restriction for one more week. I was really enjoying not having to change diapers although my wife will be very happy to have help again.

Haven't posted in this thread in a bit.

RPLND incision is fully healed and I've been 100% for a number of weeks now. Running, bicycling, eating, bowels, etc all is well. The incision scar looks great, smooth, straight. Never got any kind of infection.

Had a markers check 6 weeks after surgery on 6-2-2016. bHCG < 0.5, AFP 2.20, LDH 248. LDH is nonspecifc and especially post surgery no indicative of anything.

I have my next CT/Markers on July 27th.

Markers as of 7/27 - bHCG <0.5, AFP 2.3, LDH 176. Very good numbers.

The CT scan showed a 2.2 x 1.6 x 6.3 cm "low density node" where my removed lymph nodes were. Everything else was stable and good. My local oncologist heavily suspects it to be lymph drainage from the surgery, given A) my marker numbers and B) the fact that teraroma doesn't grow that fast if it somehow returned.

At this point I think he's right and I'm not overly concerned. I know that lymph drainage can be an issue after RPLND surgery. I still will bring the scan up with Dr. Foster as part of surgery follow up though and get his opinion on it and what my follow up should look like. Anyone else have a similar CT ~3 months post RPLND?

I never updated after that last post. Dr. Foster looked at the scan and agreed that it was a lymphocele. Last thursday I had another round of bloodwork and CT scan to check up on the suspected lymphocele. I will get the results tomorrow!

Also, 2nd try of IVF has been successful so far... My wife is 11wks pregnant and we can hear a heartbeat!!

Results were good! LDH 176 U/L, AFP 2.2 ng/mL, bHCG <0.5 IU/L, and lymphocele shrunk down to < 1cm! So back to regular surveillance!

                        Another all clear!

                        1-9-2017 - LDH 229 U/L, AFP 2.0 ng/mL, bHCG <0.5 IU/L

LDH is over the labs upper normal by 4 points, but this result has no significance. I actually was on a 3 day strenuous snowmobile trip that ended the day before blood was drawn, so I'm sure muscle repair was going on.

CT/xray is "unremarkable". Very happy to be unremarkable to the docs!!!
