I am on Androderm 4 mg patch. I did a T test (around 11 AM in the morning unfortunately) and found out that my T is 156 NG/dl (normal 250+), free T = 15.4 pg/ml (low 35+), sex hormone binding globulin 64 nMol/L (high 50-). My libido is non existent and has been like this ever since my HDC in 2014. I want to start "fixing" things. To me, it is apparent that I need more T. But, I am already on the maximum daily for Androderm Patch 4 mg, which is really expensive by the way (30 day supply $500), and Medicare Part D is terrible drug insurance. I personally do not prefer the jels you put on your back every morning. I would not mind a safe injection options. But, nothing is a hard preference as long as I can use them safely and they work (and preferably does not cost a fortune). Could you please make some recommendations so that I can discuss them with my endo? Thanks!

I've tried the patch and didn't work for me either. Only thing besides injections that have worked for me is androgel but it's expensive. Injections should be a cheap and effective option as long as you don't mind sticking yourself with a rather large needle.4x vip

So sorry. My son is just beginning to deal with hormonal issues post treatment, but for him Clomid was suggested since he just turned 18 last month. We need to find an Endo familiar with TC in our town. I learned at the TC Summit that more than numbers, symptoms are the most important. So no erections, especially first thing in the morning, a problem, along with no libido.
Several males at the TC Summit did injections, others gel.

I am on Aveed, which is a long term injection. I have been on it close to 2 years now and my T levels are right in the middle to upper middle of the range and I feel and function well.
Aveed has a co-payment assistance program as well, which for whatever reason covers us. It isn't income based or anything, I think they are just trying to get more people on the drug. We have decent health insurance though so our only cost is a co-pay of ~$90 of which Aveed assists with something like $60 of. So we pay $30 every 10 weeks.6/5/15: bHCG 27,AFP 8.66, LDH 361, 5.6cm lymph node - Stage IIC
6/16/15: Left I/O 85% EC, 10% chorio, 5% yolk sac opinion 2 (mayo) 90% EC, 10% yolk sac
7/7/15: bHCG 56, AFP 42, LDH 322
7/13/15: begin 4xEP, end 9/18/15
10/1/15: bloodwork normal, ct scan shows 2 lymph nodes 1.0cm
10/26/15: 2nd opinion on CT results - lymph nodes normal. Surveillance!
4/6/16: 1.7cm X 1.5cm lymph node found with markers normal.
4/20/16: RPLND @ IU - teratoma only!
10/22/19: all clears up to this date!
4/8/24: stopped monitoring something like 2 years ago, still all clear!Comment

Been on Testogel for the past 6+ years with zero problems.
Jan 2009: RHS (Seminoma) & RT
Mar 2010: LHS (Embryonal Carcinoma)
Sep 2010: Relapse & 3 x BEP
Mar 2015: Five years "nut free"

I have used Testim, Androgel 1% androgel 1.x% , the generic topical testosterone1% and now, due to insurance, injections.They all got the job done well enough. with the generic testosterone gel being my favorite for effectiveness, & the once every 3 weeks injection being my favorite for convenience.
Even the generic gel was over $300 without insurance, I forget what my old insurance covered, but still more pricey than the US $7 I pay every three weeks for the injectable dose.

Injections all the way. I was on Androgel for 11 years and it worked but the injections work better and much cheaper. Self injection once per week in my thigh keeps me where I like to be, easy peasy! My copayment is $5 per month. My brother on the other hand uses the pellets and he is happy with them. He is too afraid to inject...lol.Comment
