  • Weird drop in AFP

I’m late recurrence, original was ~8 years ago. Relapse this year.
My afp rose to 33xx I had 4 rounds of EP (discussed before). I a week after the last round afp had dropped to 24xx.

I went to MD Anderson to look into/ schedule high dose chemo with stem cell transplant. They did a workup (for insurance pre approval). My blood work was posted just now.
Afp 409. I’ve had no chemo for about 1.5 months.

Should I be encouraged by this huge drop?

Well, its definitely not a bad thing! Numbers dropping is good, meaning disease volume probably has reduced and it isn't totally chemo resistant at least. It definitely doesn't put you out of the woods though.

      hi Pswuba,
This is VERY interesting and certainly something positive.

Could it be a late reaction to the chemo? Probably it is still working in your body, meaning your cancer is pretty chemo sensitive which is the best news ahead of the high dose chemo. I hope you can arrange that.

Are you taking any supplements btw ?

All the best and please keep us posted on your discussion with the onco team. Sending positive vibes.

      Sanis.
