  • What are the standard ranges for tumor markers? Conflicting info..

I just did my 6 months (surveillance) post-I/O blood test (CT is on Monday). Although my 3 blood test results came back within the Standard range per my hospital (Stanford) I found different numbers on the web.
What my hospital says: Std Range for AFP <10, for LDH <340 and for HCG < 1.4. The one that concerns me is LDH. Before I/O I was at 197, after I/O I was at 207, at 3 months I was at 196, and now at 6 months 226. Many sites have 190 as the normal max. Should I worry about this increase or is it within the margin of error of the test? (AFP = 2, HCG <0.6 but those have never moved, AFP in particular since I am pure seminoma).

LDH isn't even really a tumor marker, it's a marker of inflammation in many areas of the body. Unless it was elevated when you still had active cancer, probably nothing to worry about. Also, the lab range is what is important, every lab will have a different "normal range". Internet #s are pretty much useless.

I am almost 5 yrs post hdc and my ldh is always up and above normal, but i am still cancer free. Does that make sense its just a tool ?
Thanks! It makes sense (and congrats on 4 years clear!)
