    Practical advice

Just thinking ahead and the impact of BEP on family routine. Has anyone had experience of driving to and from their chemo sessions or is this really not a good idea? What about driving after the chemo sessions when the side effects have begun to wear off?

    Many thanks

I stopped driving while I was having chemo. I was lucky enough to have Kath, my wife, to drive me around. A lot of the time, I could've driven if I'd wanted to, but there were times when Kath was driving me back from the hospital while I threw up into a bag in the passenger seat, so I couldn't have driven then.

By coincidence, my friend Mark had TC at the same time as me and also had BEP. He drove himself to and from the hospital regularly. As gilly said, everyone is different, it just depends on how it affects you.

Thanks for the info. Although you depend on family members for emotional support you don't want to interfere too much with the normal routine. My wife already does a 50 mile round journey to take my daughter to university each day. I thought they were supposed to have a yearning for independance when they got to 18!

I always thought that the people who claimed to drive themselves to/from chemo were the same ones who claim that they jogged home from their orchiectomy, but some of you are clearly real iron men. I still cry when I get a hangnail

lol...for me the I/O was harder than the chemo.....I drove every time and worked every day even during the full weeeks of treatment....I'm a morning gym person so I would be up at 5 and went to the gym....my chemo would start at about 8 or 9 and got done around noon....I would go get something to eat and then go to work....sometimes until 6 or 7 at night....I think I was very fortunate on how my body handled the treatment....I felt I need to keep my normal routine....every one is different and I got a lot of good advice from the people on this board....the fatigue factor has to do with the rbc count which for me never moved from the 13-14 range....my only bad week was this past one where I cought a cold which knocked me out from Tues til Thurs but today I'm feeling much better.....one more bleo day and I'm done!

I didn't drive, in rotten Philly traffic I'm close to an hour from the hospital where I was treated.
I mostly slept on the way home.
