My boyfriend just finished his stem cell harvesting today so HDC is in the near future. I hear such amazing stories about how the HDC works wonders. Stay positive we are all pulling for you.
ps where were you treated?
Hello All,
I have read the forum for many months now, but this is my first time actually writing in it. I am scheduled to have my first CT Scan tomorrow since I have finished my high dose chemo/stem cell recovery which I had to have because of a relapse following 2xBEB; 2xVIP; and RPLND. At last check my HCG was below 2; and this time we will check it using the hypersensitivity method instead of the standard test.
I am so overwhelming anxious about the scan, because the last time I had a scan is when we found out that the cancer had come back. I cannot shake all the feelings of dread, and get incredibly nervous whenever I feel (or imagine I feel) something that is "not right" in my body. I still have masses in my lungs from the initial spread, but we do not know whether they are metastatic chorio, benign teratoma, or necrotic tissue. So with this scan I will find out if I am having lung surgery to remove the teratoma (if the masses have grown and HCG is "normal"), whether I relapsed again, or whether we keep me in surveillance.
That is all I really have to say. I am just a little freaked and needed to vent.

@lovemyman -- I was treated at the Indiana University hospital in Indianapolis. Best place to go in the world. We have been working with Dr. Hanna (he is a part of Dr. Einhorn's group) since December when the BEP was not giving me the results my local oncologist had hoped for. Where are you guys getting yours done?
If you are curious about the whole process, my fiance kept a blog almost daily of the entire time we were there. The address is: http://kurtislizandchauncey.blogspot.com/. And if you have any specific questions to ask please feel free to ask.
