I'm not sure on the answer to you question, but I'm thrilled at the news of the all clear!
he had a CT scan which shows lots of scar tissue and 1 nodule in the lungs which the doc is keeping an eye on.. next x ray is the 29th nov! apart from that, its all clear! HCG still below 1 and all tumors are gone in his brain :-) does anyone know what way this works now? will he just go for his appointments and be told all clear? or will he always be told they are not sure and are keeping an eye on things... ! x

July 2011- 19 of high dose whole brain radiation=HCG <1

Started 4x TIP , hcg dropped to normal in first week
October RNPLD NO CANCER FOUND

Complications: Neutropaenic sepsis during cycles 1 & 3. I/V antibiotics and isolation.
March 2012 - Ten years since finishing chemo.

I would assume he will be on the same surveillence schedule that a lot of the guys are on and hopefully each one comes back all clearNot sure at what point he would be considered "cured". I think with a lot of cancers it is 5 years or so with no relapse.

Echoing MrsB, I believe after 5 years of cancer free his chances of relapse are greatly reduced. But he should be regularly checked from here on out so you can keep getting that wonder "All clear!" news!

Though there is no guarentee, typically with pure Chorio if you go 1 year with no relapse, the odds of it coming back are less than 1% after two years it is even less. Chorio doesn't lay dormant, that is why strict surveillance must be followed if you are to catch a relapse early.
