Post-op checkup and pathology this am

Intended to post this morning before going but it never happened!

Got my urologist appointment moved up earlier (thanks Smartie for the suggestion) to discuss the pathology results. The highlights were:
    Seminoma Stage 1
no signs of spread via pathology
    CT scans clear
    pre-op and post-op markers normal
    incision healing better than expected.

MDT is this afternoon when the urologist expects to "hand me over" as a patient to oncology, who will be in touch to discuss options. As the urologist put it "with a bit of luck we can now start counting down to a discharge in 5 years". I like an optimist.

Apparently next week all the test results I want will be available to me from my GP any other results I want let them know!

Going out to buy cakes ... ummm cream cake yeah. I know I am really sad resorting to coffee and cake but there is no-one else home and I have run out of people to text the good news to. I really do wish everyone else as good a day as I have had so far.

Hi Peter. Sorry I'm late responding.

I'm delighted at your good news. Stage I seminoma with clear scans and negative markers is about as good as TC gets.

I'm assuming you'll opt for surveillance. All the best for whatever you decide.

    Curious follow-up

After the post IO meeting with the urologist I have heard nothing else yet and was visiting my GP (family doctor) to discuss returning to work today so asked if he knew anything. He did not but phoned the consultant urologist's secretary. It seems my case was discussed again at last week's MDT and I am to be referred to Oxford. Originally I had been told I would be referred to local oncology. Apparently the nurse specialist will be able to give more information so I am trying to get hold of her.

I have to admit it is dis-quietening as I don't know why the change, if it is correct, other than I was a patient, and discharged, Clinical Genetics at Churchill, Oxford some years ago although everyone has told me that was unrelated. Looks like tomorrow could be spent on the phone .....

    Updated

Phone call this morning and it looks like I was inventing in my mind non existant complicated reasons, it is just routine and a normal referral. Feeling relieved and rather silly at the same time However I did get fuller staging which is now Classic Seminoma T1S M0 N0
