Hi Heidi! I have never had ketosis before, but since I'm overweight I have decided to put myself on a strict diet, and very probably this is the cause. However, just before my chemo shot, the oncologist suggested to me to start eating again carbohydrates, sugars and proteins. I have to wait for the next Friday when I will have my blood and urines checked again, and to see the result...

As for other problems or issues, I have nothing meaningful to report... the usual light pains that come and go and a light cough (I'm not very worried about it because it's related to a reflux issue and the doctress who visited me said to me to be calm about it).

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Frank - logging in to see how you are doing and glad to know you are not directly in the earthquake. Some crazy things happening all over the world with the weather and all. Hope you are feeling better. Anxiety/panic attacks can do a number on you, so take care!! Kathy

Dear friends, as usually here we are with some other updates, for this Wednesday morning... and also today, I have nothing serious about symptoms, pain or aches to mention, and no earthquakes around the area where I live. On Friday I will have (finally) my blood checked, and then we will see what is happening. The doctress said to me that if in this case the values will result a little bit altered I don't have to worry excessively. The only thing that I can do is trust her...

    Have a nice day!

    Frank

PS: a warm greet and a hug for the friend Kathy, thank you for your answer and your words!

Some updates for this Thursday evening... nothing important about issues to mention, except for the usual anxiety that takes everyone of us (in this case, me...) before having the blood tested. I'm trying to stay positive and to keep strong, even if is not easy where there is nobody around to talk... Anyway, we'll see tomorrow what will happen and who knows, probably I can come here once again to write a positive update...

    See you tomorrow!

    Hi Frank,

Everyone on this board is all too familiar with the angst prior to blood marker draws or any other kind of testing. It can be nerve wracking for sure. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to get some positive news......and NO more earthquakes!!

Hi Diane and hi Kathy! And of course, thank you for your messages and replies! Unfortunately the blood tests results are still not ready, because there was a problem... in poor words, I went yesterday to the lab to have my blood checked and they toke it, but, since now we are at the beginning of the month, only now the lab has received the economical budget from the regional government and can start again the work. So, before me, there were approximately more than 50 patients to be checked, so the doctors couldn't have given to me the results instantly. Anyway, they swore that they will give them to me on the next Monday morning at 8.00 am Italian time. So, I have to wait for two days still. The only positive thing is that on the next Monday I will have my results and I will immediately take the train to go to the oncologic center since I had an appointment with the oncologists to comment the results and to schedule the first Ct scan that will be done in the next days. For the rest, nothing special to mention except some headaches that come and go (especially on the eyes, that become tearful and reddish very often, this is an allergic reaction that I have had for many years and it's not new, except for the headaches) and what else if not... the very warm temperatures outside!

    Have a nice weekend!

So, dear friends, here we are with the results of the blood tests. In the majority the values are good and in the range, these are the negative news:

ALT (GPT) transaminase at 66 units (instead of 40, the maximum limit of the range)
Liver' s serum protein electrophoresis: Beta unit at 14.6 instead of 14.5

    Borderline values:

Sugar levels at 106 units (the maximum is 110)
Creatinin at 1.30 units (the maximum is 1.40)

The other values are all in the range, in particular the tumor markers, here they are:

Alfa feto protein: 1,8 (increased from 1,2 units)
Beta Hcg: 1,2 (increased from 1,1)
Cea at 2,3 (decreased from 3,3)

even if these are values that tend to fluctuate and in particular, these kind of fluctuations, in this case, have no meaning...

Another good news is the complete absence of ketone bodies in the urines and the good values of the Wbc, Rbc and platelets

And now, in a few days, I will also have the Ct scan, finally... The oncologists suggested to me to take a pill of "Epabios" for 20 days and then to repeat the trasaminases test, and to drink a lot of water to decrease the creatinin value.

    Have a nice day!

A last update for this Monday that is coming to an end (or had yet gone, since here in Italy the time is 2.42 am). And, unfortunately, this is not a good update because I have noticed, on the left paranasal sinus, approximately 1 cm under my eye and towards the nose, a very small "bubble" that came out suddenly. Although it doesn't hurt, is very visible and I can touch it. Searching on the internet, I found that, exactly in the point where I see and touch this new object, a lymph node is located. Who knows probably it has enlarged, inflamed or was affected by some other cancer cells? Or probably it couldn't be anything but a sebaceous cyst? Anyway, only a Ct scan will show me everything, I only have to wait... And I will do it!

Now, it's time for me to get some sleep, tomorrow will be another fighting day (at the dentist's this time). A warm hug!
    Frank

Dear friends, first of all I apologize for the long time that I haven't been here in the forum, but I had to fix and solve problems that are not related to the cancer and to the health in general, and, since during these days I'm feeling physically better, I took the occasion to start again to do some things that I was doing before the diagnosis and that I was forced to stop. About the news, honestly, I don't have so much to report, except for some bothering cough that appears at the evening, while in the day time everything is under control, and some light pains here and there. Regarding the next Ct scan, this is the most important and bad news, I have to wait fourteen days still, because the first free day is on the 28th of June. So, it' s time to wait and hang on once again!

(I apologize with all the friends if I don't answer often with the private messages and with the e-mail messages, but I repeat, this is a very heavy period and as soon as possible I will start to write again )

    Hugs as always!

Hi Charles, also for me is a pleasure to hear from you again. I keep my fingers crossed for your first Ct scan and with your blood test. I hope that everything will come out all clear!

As for me, nothing in particular to report, except for a very annoying cough that doesn't seem to go away. I feel a little bit worried, even if the doctors say that there is nothing to worry about and it's related to the esophagitis. It appears especially when I feel strong smells (e.g. smoke, soaps and so on...)

    Have a nice weekend!

And so, dear friends, some updates also for this Sunday, a very sunny day... the people go to the seaside and I remain here at home thinking about seminoma, markers, Ct scans and so on... As for the news to report, seems like the cough has become lighter and is not aggressive like the last days, and a sort of bitter taste into the throat are the only two things that I can report. There is also another thing that worries me a lot, the appearance of a "bubble" on my neck that I believe to be an enlarged lymph node, for this I have opened a thread in the forum, at this link

    http://www.tc-cancer.com/forum/showt...ewpost&t=17754

and of course, if someone of you wants to take a look, I will appreciate it very much!

    Have a nice Sunday!
    Frank
