Thread: Low neutrophils question?

    Question Low neutrophils question?

I'm one week out since my final BEPx3 Bleo shot and I got my blood counts done yesterday. My Neutrophils count went from 1.6 last week to .5 this week(normal is 1.8-6.5). I would of thought my NE counts would be rising two weeks out from the 5 day chemo week, not declining. My doc said its low, but not too worry, stay away from sick people, rest and just come back for blood test next week. Does this make sense, it's the lowest number and I'm now done with treatment? As an FYI my total WBC is 2.7 on a scale of 4-11. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

They should start to raise on days 19-21 of the cycle. I believe around day 11 or 14 they bottom out. You can actually look it up on chemo care. It shows a breakdown of the white counts throughout the cycle

He's right. If you are done with chemo, then your counts should begin going up soon thereafter.

    Debrah,

Thank you for the input. Where is "Chemo Care"? I'm just disturbed because I'm over two weeks since my 5 day chemo week and last week my Neutrophils were 1.6 and now .5. I'd think things would be going in the positive direction at this point. Then again, my doc didn't seem disturbed. He always just says rest and eat.

It's www.chemocare.com It's scott Hamiltons web site. I think I did a search on his site for WBC or low counts..I think the word is Nadir, and that's when your counts are at their lowest..

I finished my last bleo first week of April 2010, here are my Neutrophils :
    4/20/2010 : 62
    6/1/2010 : 51
    8/19/2010 : 45 L
    9/24/2010 : 50
    11/19/2010 : 46 L
    2/17/2011 : 54
    4/5/2011 : 60
    6/13/2012 : 64

Standard range is 49-74% So I was low for quite a while post chemo. I wouldn't worry about it if your doc isn't.
