    Non-seminoma

Just got a call from my DR. He said my tumor was 4 cm non-seminoma 70% teratoma and 30% yolk sac. Going in the morning to determine staging. Really freaking out and if anyone has good results from non-seminoma I really would like to hear it.

    Thanks

Did you get a copy of the pathology report for your records? My son was stage 1S and you can see his journey in my signature. My son is doing great now. Try not to freak out. When do you go back to your doctor? Are you scheduled for any blood work or Scans? I guess I need to read your other thread to catch up. Take Care and keep everyone posted.

RPLND 11/2/11 (cyst in right pelvic area was mature teratoma and lymph nodes were clear)

I have an appointment tomorrow for a CT scan and chest x-ray. Then I have a follow up with my dr. I am at Indiana university do I am confident in the people treating me. It's just the unknown. I can't remember everything he said because of the shock factor but I know that it's a non-seminoma 70% teratoma 30% yolk The tumor has only grown from 1.5 cm to 4 cm in six months. My pre-op blood markers were not elevated so I am prying it hasn't spread throughout my body. Thanks for the quick response. I love everyone on this forum. What a great resource.

Lots of folks have good results with non-seminoma. Was the teratoma called "mature" or "immature" ? Immature teratoma can be a problem, but it is treatable. Mature Teratoma is much less of a problem.

Afraid you'll be waiting a bit for answers until your CT results come in. That's what they need to determine staging.

If it's 100% mature teratoma, that's relatively good. Mature teratoma is slow growing & less likely to spread.

Your CT scan will tell you what the next step may be.

Both mature teratoma and yolk sac tumor are slow-movers. The size of the primary is not that surprising given that yolk sac tumors are usually very large. A follow-up CT scan would be worthwhile. Did you show markers (AFP, specifically)?
