    Soft lump turned hard

I've had a lump about the size of a small kidney bean in my scrotum for about 7 years. It is soft and filled with fluid, feels like a water baloon. It is in front of my right testicle but not connected to it from what I can feel and it is right beneath the skin.
Ive been squeezing it around every now and then, perhaps a bit more lately but not with force, just gently squeezing it.
So anyway, this Friday I felt it and it was now hard all of a sudden just like that overnight. It's like a pea sized lump has grown inside of the old one cause I can still feeld the "water baloon" kind of around the new hard lump. It hurts a bit when i press it but i'm not sure if that is the actual lump hurting or the area around it. Looking at it it's a bit blue from the outside. I feel occasionaly discomfort around my right testicle.
What can this be? Ive googled like crazy but cannot find anything similar. I am very worried.

It does not sound like cancer, which would be a solid mass that is part of the testicle and would have grown by now. It could be a cyst or a hydrocele, which are liquid filled and generally could be pushed around independently of your testicle. I suggest you get an appointment with your family doctor and urologist for a complete exam and ideally a scrotal ultrasound for a definitive diagnosis. An ultrasound is a painless scan with a transducer just like the ones used to check on a baby's development in the womb. The things I mentioned rarely need treatment and are better left alone since "over-examining" can cause irritation and swelling.

Let us know how it goes, and best wishes.
