    Confused about Testosterone readings.

Hi, I hope someone can clear something up for me.

Today is my 1st year all clear, but I also got my testosterone results back. Initially my letter from the doc just said "testosterone hormone levels normal" (or something like that), but I wanted the specifics.Today he gave me the numbers, but it was a stand in doc and I'm not sure I noted everything correctly as I couldn't understand him too well.
However, what I have written down is:

    test 19.0
    fsh 11.2
    lh 2.9

... now I'm concerned as every1 elses T levels appear to be in the hundreds, and I have been told 19(?). Surely, if it was that I wouldn't be told I had normal levels right?

He said that fsh was higher than normal as it's the hormone that controls how much T is produced, and it's trying to work for the missing ball. I was happy about this, but don't know if its right?

lh... from what I'm seeing on the links providing on the forum, 2.9 is loooow.

Are my levels ok? Can anyone help me decipher the info I have got?

    Any help appreciated.
    Andy

Its the measurement scale being used. Have a look here http://www.mens-hormonal-health.com/...ne-levels.html

The page also includes a conversion calculator.

Your measurement units will be nmol/L as opposed to ng/dl which deliver the results in 100's

    Cheers

Thankyou, this clarified it for me. Think it's in the above 500 range, which is better than I expected, but according to a chart I've seen is the expected level of a 50year old, and I'm 26 - but I'm just glad there's something there.

    Thanks Kiwi.

You are at 548, a average 26 year old level is 617 with a standard deviation of 170 .
So something like 65% of 26 years olds will be in the range of 447 to787.

So you are well within a normal range, but you can see how wide that range is. What is more important is how you feel. Fatigue, trouble concentrating, lack of hair growth (not scalp),& certainly hot flashes could indicate low T *for you*. If you were at the high end of normal before, 548 might be low enough to cause symptoms (but not too likely).

As long as you are feeling fine, I would not be concerned.
