    3 years all clear

Today I have been given another all clear which marks three years since diagnosis and subsequent treatment. My wife and I are just about to celebrate!

My most recent CT scan does show corruption to the top third of my left lung lobe which is causing me to cough up phlegm and also blood from time to time. This is a result of BEP. I am also infertile and have been since finishing BEP three years ago.

However, in the grand scheme of all things considered, these are small prices to pay and I consider myself very lucky indeed.

Thank you and best wishes to everyone on this forum. All members, new and old, are in my thoughts everyday.

Kurt, congrats. I am 1.5 years out, and I am also coughing from time to time, mostly in the mornings. Did your lungs get worse in time? Did the prior CTs not show any damage? I thought the damage would be done at its max extent when the chemo ends or a little thereafter. Also, how is your physical condition? Did you see any changes compared to last year? I am completely out of breath if I run just a little. Steps are the worst. I am perfectly fine walking in a fast pace though...

My lungs have been this way since finishing chemo. My first CT scan following BEP highlighted damage to the lobe and my onco has been keeping an eye on it ever since. My concerns with the damaged lung only really come to light when I cough up blood which looks more scary than it actually ever is.

Physically, I have been well. I am much more prone to chest infections these days but I run four times per week and and regularly attend the gym so chemo has not hindered my training. I dont feel out of breathe when running but I do cough an awful lot. Yet, my onco, tells me not to worry about this.

I hope that all continues to be well with you and please message me Tarc if you need to.
