    Help!

I found a lump on my the top of my right testicle a few weeks ago. Had an ultrasound and got told it was a varicocele vein. However I'm worried for a few reasons still, and have a few questions I can't get off my mind:

    a) Varicoceles are rare on the right testicle, which makes me skeptical I have that.

    b) Personally I think it's an epididymal cyst due to the location at the top of the testicle, am I right in thinking lumps at the top are cysts and cancerous lumps are located lower down on the testicle.

    c) Are ultrasounds ever wrong and inaccurate

    d) Could my epididymis be blocking the ultrasound from detecting a cancerous lump?

Please someone answer me i'm going crazy with worry!
    Thanks!

Hey James, we understand what you are going through. let me try to answer some of these Q's.

    A) You can always get a second opinion. go to another urologist and start fresh.Explain your symptoms and concerns. Don't tell them what the other docs opinion is and see if they come to the same conclusion.

B)An experienced Radiologist or Urologist will will have no problem discerning the two from each other

    C) US are usualy very acurate in determining a mass vs a fluid filled sack(cyst, etc.) Usualy a mass will be dark grey and have texture to it, and a cyst will be black.

    D) Not likely as they can scan in layers going from top to bottom of the teste, think of it like focusing. they can see the top middle and bottom based on their positioning and settings.

Doesn't sound like you have TC, but like I said if you still have concerns geta second opinion.
    I hope this helps!

Thankyou for the quick response, it's hard to me to decifer whether the lump (which is comfortably smaller than a pea) is on the testicle or the epididymis, which is the main cause of worry for me really. Personally I feel like it is a cyst, however I will book another appointment just to make sure.

The 'varicocele' feels firm at the bottom and slightly moveable at the top, and not like a bag of worms, which is slightly confusing.
