Life expectancy

First of all my deepest, deepest sorrows to everyone who's had to post on this site.
But does anyone know the life expectancy of an untreated cancer patient?
I'm so sorry to ask that question, really. but i need to know.

Why do you need to know? Do you think you have a problem? It's never to late to begin treatment. Even in late stages this one can be cured.

I agree with Scott, there's no set answer and if you gave more details perhaps we can help.

Also, although I am not a TC survivor, I have "met" many incredible people from this site. While it is unfortunate that we have met with circumstances to bring us here, no need for deepest sorrows. This is a highly cureable cancer. This experience has been empowering, and many commented that they have come through TC much more balanced people with a true respect for life. Every day is a gift and life holds no guarantees, and we all see that. We have hope, and we have the strength of unity here. Sounds like you may need to get something off your chest...we're here for you when you're ready.

As the others have said it could depend on many factors - type of cancer, stage at diagnosis, general health of the person affected, etc.

But in the final analysis, not a single living person knows how much time they have left. Perhaps most healthy people THINK they have a lot of time. My wife is a high school teacher; every year several young, healthy students die in car accidents in our area. Yet I've know people who seemed to be sick much of the time live to be 80 or 90. Like Karen said, there are no guarantees on life.

We all need to try to make the best use out of the time we're given.

If you do need to get something off your chest, this is a great place to do it.

Like the others have said it all depends on an individual basis, as far as the life span stuff. But one thing that is important to remember that some (most) forms of TC are very nasty and can double in just 20 to 30 days-- regardless of that TC always has one of the highest cure rates of any cancer at even the latest stages. The drugs work, so I don't think about how long someone with TC has to live untreated, think about what type of treatment they need to get better again. Best wishes.

well ok- when i was 13 i found a lump. i'm now 18 just wondering whats happening.

If you have had a lump for 5 years it probably won't be testicular cancer but that doesn't meen it shouldn't be treated. A quick trip to a urologist should be all you need.

"May not" is good. "Do not" is even better. If you still have an unexplained lump, you should ask your doctor about it.

Ok you read the part of my post that said you probably don't have tc. What about the part that said to visit a urologist?

Life Expectancy= A large increase in number of years a human being can live is evident when medical problems are treated by a Physican,Specialist, and/or Surgeon and not left to fester for 5 years!!!!

I had my lump for 3 years, if I was you I would get it checked, If I had left mine from longer I might not of had a choice of survalience, and probly would of been forced to have radiotherapy or even chemotherapy.

I agree with them here-all it requires is to get it checked earliest, that way you will have an idea whats the situation like and what needs to be done. Sitting around waiting wont lead you anywhere!
