    Good news

I have good news to share. Jay has been approved for Social Security and he won't have to reapply for at least seven years. He told me that the worker said if he makes it that long (that wasn't cool), she told him that not everyone does. Our son was not happy about dad not going back to work, so I told him what the worker said because I want him to understand what dad is going through and he needs to know what is going on. Hopefully, he understands. Especially since dad yells at him for no reason sometimes.

I don't know whether to be happy about it or not. Simply because they didn't deny him right out like they normally do to all applicants and we didn't have to get a lawyer. It just means he really is sick and that is scary as heck.

I am so glad this place exists because no one can understand about this but someone who is going through it.

    Hi
Good to hear that you got the social security sorted out, I know it can be quite stressful trying to get these things done. As it was for me trying to get free prescriptions for my son, which was denied at first saying it was the treatment making him ill not his illness. We argued for a few months with the National health over here. How can they say cancer was not making him ill. Anyway hope your son gets use to Dad being at home more, even more so for you to get use to it.

    Irene,
I am so sorry that you had to go through difficulty with getting your sons medications paid for. We have been lucky so far, in not having added stress over such things. Cancer is enough of a stress to deal with, then having to deal with people fighting you when you are asking for help you need for your loved one to live and I am very sorry for the loss of your son. There is nothing that I can say that can make that any better. My heart aches for you and the other moms on here who have lost their children to this terrible disease.

Right before Jay was diagnosed we found out a friend of his had cancer. I did not have any comprehension of what that meant at the time. Even though, my grandparents had died of cancer, I had no comprehension of what cancer means. Even though a coworkers husband has cancer, I had no comprehension of what it meant. I didn't even comprehand it or understand when Jay first was diagnosed. Now I do. Now I understand what others are going through with the big C word. At least, I think I do.

    Bad News

Why is it always good news, bad news?

Jay is now dumping protein into his urine and will have to take a pill for it. The lady who called said it was no big deal. I look it up on WebMd and it says it is a sign that the kidneys are damaged and failing. That doctors put you on pills in attempt to stop kidney damage.

    So lets see.
Testicular Cancer stage 2, no what a minute stage 3, if you hadn't come in you would have died in amonth. Spinal stenosis? Neuropathy. Dumping sugar in your urine. Diabetes. Now dumping protein in your urine. supposed to be1-26 and it is 100 and something. What next???? by the way, is the neuropathy because of the chemo, age, spinal stenosis or diabetes??? Which doctor should you see next? The urologist, the oncologist, or the D.O.???? Which next? Can we get them all in the same room sometime? I wonder if its all related?
