New Here
I am 42 years old and in great shape. I work out several times a week and am in the best shape of my life. Married with 2 kids and a business owner. 2 weeks ago I was in bed with my wife and noticed a lump in my right testicle. I went the next day to the urologist and he said he thought it was a cyst but ordered an ultrasound to be certain. That made me feel much better. However, once the ultrasound was done the next week, he called me and said it was definitely a solid tumor and would need surgery as soon as possible. He has never said he was removing the testicle or used the word cancer but, the more research I have done the more I feel that is what is going to happen this Friday. A few days before the lump was found, I had gone to my GP on a routine blood pressure check and had my blood drawn for cholesterol. That doctor's office has now called me and advised my bloodwork came back abnormal and wanted to see me. Instead, I had them fax this over to the urologist. This has been an emotional rollercoaster for my wife and I for the past 2 weeks. I can't wait to find out what it is.

New Here
Week before last I found a lump in my right testicle and went the next day to the urologist. He said he felt it was a cyst and ordered an ultrasound the following week. I felt better until he called me after the ultrasound and said it was a solid tumor and I needed surgery asap. It is scheduled this Friday at 2pm. To add to this, I had gone for a routine visit to my regular doctor the day before I found the lump wherein bloodwork was done for cholesterol. That office called and said my bloodwork came back abnormal and wanted to see me asap. I instead had them fax it to the urologist. My urologist has never said he is removing my right testicle but that is fully what I am expecting. Nor has he ever mentioned cancer except to say he would have the tumor biopsied following the surgery. I am 42, in great shape, married with 2 teenage girls. This has been a shock to me. I thought TC only hit younger guys.

Richard:
If the testicle has a solid tumor in it the testicle will have to be removed for examination. The surgery is quite simple so don't worry about that. Do you have any idea what was off with your bloodwork?

![]() Prayers and best wishes for Friday. Let us know how it goes, and fire away with questions as the info flows your way. PS: My family physician, who suspecting something more than an infection and set me along the path to diagnosis very quickly, still can't say the word "cancer". He refers to it as my "little adventure". It's a tough thing to say. "Survivor" is much easier to say.

Richard: I'm 46, so it does hit us "older guys." I just had the surgery to remove a testicle, and to my suprise, it wasn't too bad. I had nausea for about 2 hours after the surgery, probably from the anesthesia, and a little pain for a couple days. In at 10 am, out by 3 pm.
Now, nearly two weeks later, its just been sort of an irritation around the incision. I only took the prescribed pain meds for two days after surgery. Today, I feel pretty good, and can move around fine. And, it still works! I iced the incision area for two days as well, on and off. Each day, there was less pain. Now its just a sort of "stingy itch." from time to time. Its the only surgery I've ever had, but wasn't near as bad as I had feared. Your biopsy following surgery, and possible tests after that, will dictate if further treatment is necessary. I've found this forum VERY helpful, so stick around and use all the experience here to learn and work through things.

Hi Richard
The docs will always talk in a non committed way until they have a visual on the testicle, it would be every rare that the testicle would be removed and the chances of it not being a TC are fairly small. You could ask the doc about where to next if the testicle is removed, you could ask about or consider prostheses to fill the gap (its personal choice though). We have been where you are, let us know what happens and if you have any questions. Regards Kiwi ![]()
