Swollen neck lympnodes
Hello everybody!
I was diagnosed of tc about a year before with enlarged lympnodes in the abdomen. I had chemotherapy and all clear since. Yesterday I noticed a swollen lypmh node in my neck. It was just after a small cold...(only runny nose and sneezing) Can a lymph node in the neck be enlarged due to TC? Can TC enlarge lymph nodes in the neck? Thank you

I've recently had some concerns over my neck lymph nodes. The lymphatic system is made to deal with infections/colds etc.. and the lymph nodes will increase/decrease as it fights on your behalf. It is normal to have enlarge nodes which sometimes you can feel.
The big test is whether they go down after a week or so after the cold. It is also key not to keep touching the nodes and you can irritate them and they will stay increased for longer. Trust me as I have learnt from experience! I would say it is probably nothing and your body doing its job, however if it is still visibile after a couple of weeks have a word with your doctor.

I talked to my doctor about neck lymph nodes, and he said they flare up fairly easily with colds. It is probably nothing to worry about, but it never hurts to go see your doctor. Just in case, its always better to be safe then sorry.

I would go with it being related to the "cold" you have too.

Neck lymphnodes
I have to side with everyone else.
I can tell you that if it's both lympnodes in your neck (either side just under the jaw) then it sounds like you're fighting some bug. The only neck lymphnode that's related to TC is the supraclavicular lymph node on the LEFT side of your neck. This lymphnode is situated at the base of your neck and can be located by pressing your fingers down in the fleshy part at the very base of your neck. It is right behind the clavicle (bone). This was where my TC spread to. It was very dramatic in that the tumor grew to the size of a ping pong ball within 11-12 hours of being examined by the oncologist. It also shrunk nearly as fast when I started chemo. Again, if it's both sides of the top of your neck then you are probably fighting some bug. Rich |

I also has TC just over 12 months ago.
Sometimes when I get a cold (usually a pretty bad one but not always) I get swollen and really sore lymph nodes in my neck. As far as I know it is normal, they are fighting infection, just doing their job. Ask your GP if you are worried mate. I know the feeling, everytime you experience something similar to the symptoms you had with TC you start to worry! I get phantom pain down there and it scares me, my urologist says all fine through ![]() |
