Blood Clot

I found out Thursday after an interesting trip to the cardiologist that I have what they believe is a blood clot in my hart. Now they believe that it was caused by the PICC line which had moved in to the RT atrium and had to be removed which was okay because my treatments were done. ( the story of the doctors visit for the ECG is for another time) Has anyone had this problem before and how did it turn out?

My husband had a big clot in his right atrium too due to the central line (hickman) port. This was detected in a CT scan following the end of his 4xBEP cycles. Because he needed more chemo, the port could not be removed. He had to give himself Clexane injections every night. No clots were seen on the PET/CT scan 8 weeks later. The port was removed before his chest surgery to remove the primary mass.

My impression from the literature and the doctors is that clots due ports and caths can occur but relatively infrequently.
