I'm going to be a dad again :)

We just found out last night. I know it's early and I shouldn't be saying anything but I'm excited. Please no posting on facebook, we're not telling our families yet.

Some of you may know that Nanci and I have been trying to have a second child for over 3 years now. I was ready to give up a year ago. We have been to every doctor in the world and nothing helped. They all say the same thing, we are both perfect. Finally Nanci went to a biochemist/nutritionist that put her on a special diet to regulate her body’s natural chemistry. Not sure if this alone helped but she is pregnant and we did it naturally. 18 months of trying for Lauren and now over 3 years for baby #2, both conceived naturally. I’m a happy man right now.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you (little envious also) what type of diet did they put your wife on? Chad & I were trying to have a baby about a year before we knew he had cancer, never went to the doctor to check but I was worried it was me (but thinking back it could have been Chad's cancer). Keep us posted!

The diet is specific to the individual based on lots of blood work. He gave her a list of foods she is allowed to have and the proportions. She can only eat what is on the list. Also how much of any one item she can have in a week. For instance my wife never eats beef. Her diet included X servings of beef per week. The doctor also put her on vitamins and supplements. Before the diet my wife was always tired and never felt like she had energy. Now she feels great, has tons of energy and lost over 15 pounds.

Hey Jay, just got home from a biz trip and saw your thread. My most sincere congratulations to you and Nanci - I know this has been a struggle for you two for some time. At some point perhaps you will know *why* the new gift from above has taken his/her own sweet time to arrive. It's in your specific plan from "upstairs" and as such, you accept it and enjoy it to the fullest.

Many blessings to you, Nanci, Lauren and future baby Charles or Charlotte (just kidding! ).

I'll lift the Ribs ban if you lift the Tangerlo Ban. At this rate we'll all be eating Chicken McNuggets and downing Schmitts at the next Forum family Fix.
Much Love (and possible indigestion),
Mark

BTW, I really was curious. In my family we have a Newton, a Della, a Goodwin and yes living in France, I'm actually related to a Napolean. Anyone know the counterparts?

Tomorrow is our first ultra sound and doctors visit. I like US’s when they are not cancer related and especially when they are not being done on me.

If all goes well we will show Lauren the pictures and let her know she is going to be a big sister. I can't wait. She has been asking for a brother or sister for years but we never explained to her that we were trying and were having trouble. I didn't know how to explain it so she would understand so we just avoided the subject. And of course we will be letting the rest of the family know too.
