I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and ate way too much. Steven went to the doctor here in Tyler on Monday (11-23) and had blood drawn for his marker checks. We did not get the results until Wednesday moring. AFP was 1.9 and BHCG was <2 non- detectable. Wow, what a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving. I continue to pray for everyone.

Fantastic news! I think about Steven often and include him in my prayers each and every day. I so happy for Steven and your entire family. We also had a great Thanksgiving here in Indiana. Our Steve and the rest of the family had a great time relaxing and watching Steve's little Kramer.

Hey everyone,

Well my family just received a great early Christmas gift. Steven's BHCG is normal (<2) and his chest X-ray was normal. We were all relieved once again and it will definitely be a Happy Holiday season around our house. There is a lot to be thankful for right now and I am thankful for all of you. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I continue to pray for all of you.

Thanks John and Lorinda...Yes it is that time again. Steven went in for the blood draw this afternoon. The results usually take one to two days to come back. I am about to purchase our plane tickets for Indy on-line. Steven has his six-month check-up with Dr. Einhorn on Feb. 8 This came around pretty fast. Steven is feeling really good and he is pretty much doing whatever he wants. Right now he is at the lake bowfishing with a friend, He seems to be getting healthier every day and his hair has grown back nicely. He has a couple of more weeks on his last round of chemo pills. So far, he hasn't had many side effects except slightly lower white blood counts. He did get "the crud" like everyone else in the family but he knocked it out quicker than me and with no antibiotics.

Steven really wants to move ahead with his life now but still seems somewhat hesitant to do so. He does talk about wanting to be a police officer and other aspects of the future but it isn't without trepidation. All I can do is try and assure him that things are headed in a positive direction. Has anyone else experienced this with their son or themselves. Any advice? He really seems to get worse when it is time for the tumor marker checks and works himself up pretty good. I can't lie, I get worked up too.

I have been keeping up with most everything that is going on with everyone. I know several of you are going through some pretty trying times right now and my thoughts and prayers are always with all of you. I continue to thank all of you for being there for us.

Larry

Larry,
My Steve appears to be able to move on and assume that his cancer is gone for good. I, on the other hand, worry excessively and always feel like I'm waiting on the other shoe to drop. Is it the mother or the nurse in me that causes this.......or a combination of the two?
Have you got the latest test results yet? Steve goes to Indy in early February for tests and a follow up with Einhorn. This is the first time they've waited four months to check him so I'm pretty nervous about it. I've resigned myself to being nervous forever.
Let us know the results. Steven remains in my prayers each and every day.

Cheryl

Hi Steven,

It is good to hear from you! I'm so glad that your numbers are good! Live Strong!!! When you have been faced with cancer, those two little words - LIVE STRONG really means something different to those who have never had to fight for their life.

I have a 22 yr old son. He is moving forward, his plans have changed a little, but he is still moving forward. Not attending college in Australia, but a college 1 hour away. It's great to see him just being 22. Now I'm back to worrying about his grades and drinking, etc. and it's alot better than worrying about cancer.

Steven went to Dr. Einhorn's office this morning and had his blood drawn early. His appointment was at 1:00 p.m. By the time we saw Dr. Einhorn the tumor markers were already back. Dr. Einhorn said that Steven's BHCG was zero! All of the other checks were normal too. He cut Steven's checkups back to once every two months and we see him again in September. Dr. Einhorn was very enthusiastic about Steven's prognosis and told him to get back to normal activity. We will be flying back home tomorrow if we don't get snowed in. Thanks again to everyone for their good thoughts and prayers. Continued prayers to all.

Larry & Steven,

What fantastic news! I'm so happy for your entire family. I know all too well just how important those markers are and how we hold our breath until the results are in. We live about 2 hours south of Indy and we're expecting snow tonight and tomorrow. Hope you get out without a delay. Have a safe trip back home and congratulations!

Thanks everyone. The new snow is beautiful and your right, Dadmo, I'm still very happy right now. Just one question...That plastic thing with a handle in the glovebox of my rental car, is that for scraping snow?

Ha Ha, yes it is, I break mine all the time. It is a great workout sometimes. It is also a great stress reliever... wait what am I talking about, scraping a windshield with a broken I scraper is one of the most frustrating things to do in the world! It never fails, eventually I am scraping two 1/2 inch lines at a time. It's those times when a windshield seems so large...

"0" that is as good as it gets, period. Congrats Steven you've earned it! The cure is all but in the bag.

Hey Forum Family,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Steven just visited with the local oncologist. His markers are still undetectable, so I guess that is as good as it can be. We are inching ever closer to that one year all clear. We just need about five more months. What great news right before the Easter weekend. I still pray for everyone on the forum. God Bless all of you!

Larry

Hey everybody, a quick question. Steven has been feeling great and doing well. Today, he said he was driving down the road and his left arm started to tingle (numbness) and he got a little lightheaded. He got scared and drove back home. His light headedness has gone away and the tingling has subsided for the most part. We do have a call in to the doctor. I checked Steven's blood pressure and it was OK (122/67 pulse 48).

Anyone experience anything like this after chemo. I'm gonna take him to the ER just to make sure.

Thanks, Larry

All 3 BEP drugs can cause numbness & tingling, according to the handouts we were given. I'd totally get him checked out though--hope he's OK.
