Anyone @ Indiana University on 9/26/11 (correct date this time)?

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone is going to be at IU or is already at IU. We leave on Sunday, 9/26/11 to begin high dose chemo. and stem cell transplant. I put the wrong date the last time I posted.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers. Well, tomorrow is the big day, Matt starts the high dose chemotherapy. My stomach has been in knots all day, I think it is the anticipation of what is coming and not knowing how bad it will be. He handled the other chemo. really well so I hope this will not be really bad. They also did a chest x-ray today and I'm scared about what they may tell us. I'm worried about Matt because when I try to talk to him about all of this, he says he is fine, but how could he be. I just wish he would talk to someone, even it is not me. I guess I better try and go to sleep because we have a long day tomorrow.

                        Hi Matt's mom,

The not knowing and the anticipation is just the worst. You may know this already but TCDestroyer has a Caringbridge website that documents his HDC experience. Maybe reading it would help to give you some idea of what to expect?

For what it's worth, Shaun didn't really talk about it and was "fine" throughout his treatment too. I worried about that for a long time, but then once the intense part was over he did start to reflect and talk a bit more. In hindsight I think he was (a) in shock and (b) running on autopilot, just trying to focus and plow through each step of the process with as much strength as he could muster.

Right now, the most important thing is getting through HDC day 1. Then day 2, etc.

I wish you guys didn't have to go through this - but he's obviously in the best hands.

Take care and keep us posted

Thanks everybody, and yes TCDestroyer's Caringbridge journal has been extremely helpful in getting me mentally prepared. He has also been in contact with us and been our angel of information, and helped us so much to not only prepare for what is coming but even what we need to bring with us for our trip. He is a great guy!

Deeps breaths, let's get this day started and over with.
