Experiences with Silimed's Silicone Elastomer or Mentor's Soft-Solid Testicle Implant

Hi:

I am considering getting the soft solid implants as my physician has been a research member for these implants. They've been doing them abroad for approximately for 10 years and I havent been able to get much info on how they feel or reviews from men who have them (I understand it is the same material used in the newer breast augmentation implants). Anyone have experience with these types of implants. They are NOT the saline filled or the silicone gel, they are called "soft silicone" which is supposedly soft but holds their shape.

Do they feel natural? Any thoughts or opinions would be great. Especially if you have had different types of implants.

Thanks

Dog

Had mine for over seven years now. Couldn't be happier with them... Almost as good as the real thing!

Hey Joey

Thanks for the reply.. Hope you don't mind me asking some personal questions. Do your sexual partners know they are an implant?

Are the unnaturally harder then a real testicle? I haven't had a chance to feel them myself as of yet but I am getting differing opinions on people's reactions. I guess part of the problem is that alot of people just don't have these particular types.

Thanks.. Dog

Dog,

My only sexual partner is my wife and she knows about the implants. However, I seriously doubt that anyone else would be able to tell without a VERY close examination.

I don't think any type of implant will be as soft and natural as the real thing but I found Silimeds solid silicone to be the best that was available to me.

It did take me about 6-8 months before they really felt that they were "part" of me.

Good luck in your decision.

I have a pair of AART (Nevada) Devices and I'm very pleased with how they feel. No post op pains. They have no liquid of any kind (Similar to *I think? the Silimed devices) I had a chance to see a sample and test squeeze it before my Orchiectomy and it felt right and of great important to me was available in a normal healthy adult size. The old Mentor/Coloplasts seemed to me to be small, smaller and forgetaboutit!

I would say give AART a ring!

These are where mine were from

Matertial - low-hardness silicone elastomer.

They do feel firmer when in than the test ones I seen before the op, got them in July.

Cheers

Long time lurker here.. I am posting now, because a search of the board shows no update on the final SSTI status.

I was holding out for Mentor/Coloplast's SSTI (Soft Solid Testicular Implant), and had first been in contact with Cliff Kline at Mentor several years ago about participation in their study. Ultimately, lack of a participating surgeon nearby put the kibosh on that idea.

I decided to follow up with Coloplast and received the information from them today that the FDA declined to approve the SSTI in the US, although I am informed that it is available in some other countries. Their saline-filled product remains available in the US as before.

Coloplast has a restrictive notice attached to their emails, and I can't quote from it, unfortunately.

Chris Implants

Hi all...haven't been on in a while....just wanted to put in my thoughts here for anyone thinking of implants...as you know, Chris had TC almost going to be four years ago...!!and recently decided to have an implant....he had surgery during his Xmas break...went with the saline filled implant....surgery was quick...came home same day....and literally has not had one complaint...they told him to make sure it "stays down"...in place....was sutured in but they still told him that..anyway...he acts like it has always been there...he is glad he did it....I asked him recently how it felt...he said no problems...so he got used to it quick...hope that helps someone out there thinking about taking the plunge...take care all......Mary Ellen
